Son of God
Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If you be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Matthew 4:6 And says unto him, If you be the Son of God, cast yourself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.
Matthew 27:39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
Matthew 27:40 And saying, You that destroys the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Matthew 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
Luke 4:41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, You are Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
John 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
John 20:31 But these are written, that all of you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing all of you might have life through his name.
Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized?
Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If you believe with all of your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Acts 9:20 And immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
Acts 9:21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came here for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
1John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God.
1John 5:5 Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
Many people argue that “the Son of God” is the same as “God the Son.”
1. “The Son of God” is not a name but a description of the one being talked about. The Bible gives us various names of the “Son of God,” including Jesus Christ, Lord and even God.
2. “God the Son” is a name, not a description.
Do you still believe they are the same? Let’s look at this:
My name is Richard and I have a daughter whose name starts with P.
Is it correct to say P is the “daughter of Richard?”
Is it the same as calling P “Richard the daughter?”
By the way, I am human and my daughter, P, also happens to be fully human. So should it be strange that the “Son of God” is also fully God just as “God the Father?”
2John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
People usually quote only part of Deuteronomy 29:29 – “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God.” The verse actually also states that “but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
Dan 2:22 He (God) reveals the deep and secret things: He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.
What is clearly revealed in the Bible is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
What is not revealed is how he is the Son of God.
But just to address something that people say that this is impossible, can you really explain how three separate persons who are fully God are also one God?
I have also heard the argument that “show me Jesus’ mother.”
And I also humbly ask, who was Eve’s mother?
WHAT I KNOW IS THAT THE BIBLE AFFIRMS JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. I WON’T TRY TO EXPLAIN HOW.
